Event and Distance Driven Location Updates

In R2.4, when the state of a Telemetry VIO radio changes, the radio can now send a location update with a time stamp and pin status update to a 3rd party Location Tracking Application. This is known as an Event Driven Location Update.

There are a number of applications for this. For example the rear door of a cash transportation vehicle can be connected to the radio and whenever the door is opened, that event is sent to the control room.

The Distance Driven Location Update is triggered when the distance traveled by a radio from the last update exceeds specific values defined in the location server application (predetermined distance). Using this feature, the number of location updates over the air can be reduced when a radio is not moving or moving slowly.
